The Chicago Art Book Fair’s Open Program is a platform for CABF exhibitors to self-curate their own workshops, talks, and screenings. All Open Program Events take place at the Art Shoppe, on the first floor of the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel. The Art Shoppe is accessible from inside CAA, but there is also a separate street entrance at 71 E Madison St.

Workshop: Sanctuary Manifesto by Press Press
Press Press [108] offers a collective manifesto building session, and through an interrogation of the notion of “sanctuary,” collects and affirms the expertise of various immigrant experiences. In this workshop, guests will be invited to contribute to PP's manifesto that attempts to define and imagine what sanctuary is, how it can be created, and how it can be protected. This manifesto will be combined with suggestions collected from others from Baltimore, New York City, and more, and will be published in summer 2018 as part of the publication Sentiments. This workshop is a femme immigrant only space.

White Men: A Conversation
Jessica Caponigro and Zachary Hobbs of Snake Hair Press, present a short reading and workshop based on their zine White Men Are The Worst. Participants can submit their own statements and experiences with sexism and racism throughout the fair [at table 413B] and at the workshop to a temporary archive which will be documented and then destroyed.

Homie 2 Homie Zine Workshop
Homie House [408B] presents a collaborative project through simple zine making in the mediums of drawing and writing. Together, we hope to further understand the current state of affairs through this intersectional workshop, in which folks will share their personal narratives of kinship and community. This will be a safe space for creating, sharing and discussion. Basic materials and a quick binding workshop are provided.
